The year before Kindergarten is the one families worry about most, and it is the year the difference between centres shows most clearly.

Backward mapping

Leveraging our experience as educators in both early childhood and school-age settings, we work backwards from what Kindergarten actually asks of a child and build those skills into the program long before they are needed. Bright ELC Riverwood will ensure that your child is ready to make a successful transition to Kindergarten, giving them every opportunity at the best start in life.

Reading Eggs and Mathseeds

Our school readiness program is supported by 3P Learning’s Reading Eggs and Mathseeds, the same programs used in many local primary schools. Children work at their own level, so nobody is bored and nobody is left behind.

The skills that are not on any worksheet

  • Sitting in a group.
  • Following an instruction with two parts.
  • Recognising and writing their own name.
  • Holding a pencil correctly, before the wrong grip sets.
  • Opening a lunch box.
  • Telling an adult when something is wrong.

A summary before they start

In the final term families receive a school readiness summary: what your child can do, what is still developing, and what would help over the summer.

What is included

Come and see the pre-school room

Book a tour of the pre-school room or call us on (02) 9584 1691. Places for the year before Kindergarten fill early, so it is worth asking well ahead.
